“Gifted” women often have a hard
time finding undergarments that are both comfortable and stylish. Truth is, women
with average-sized breasts have more options than the voluptuous, making it a
hassle for the latter. One woman, Sarah Tremellen, was even told that she could
not possibly find gorgeous bras in her size. Tired of being offered enormously
unattractive contraptions, she decided to start a company that would solve her
own problem.
Tremellen founded Bravissimo
in 1995, with a belief that big chested women deserved better deals and more
options when buying lingerie. She channeled her frustration to creativity and
started the business as a mail order company, with her living room as an
office. The company provided a wide choice of lingerie in D-KK cups to begin
with, and later on ventured into swimwear and clothing that allowed voluptuous
women celebrate their curves and accentuate their assets.
Seven years later, over half a
million women are now loyal customers of Bravissimo. These women have been a
patron of the company’s lingerie line from the beginning, turning the living
room business into a multi-million, multi-awarded company. Bravissimo has also
evolved its operations; from retailing by mail order, they now have a website
as well as 21 high street stores where women can see and fit undergarments
themselves
Through Bravissimo, Tremellen aims
to produce more styles for the large-sized, pushing the lingerie industry to
become more sensitive to the needs of various women. They have indeed other
companies to give attention to this market, and they are often asked for advice
in developing styles in larger cup sizes. Bravissimo girls have also been
instrumental in changing the bra industry, by becoming advocates of the brand and
its philosophy.
An innovative yet unsung company, Bravissimo empowers women across
America by giving them comfort and making them feel beautiful, all at the same
time.
