Famous for its luxurious, trendy,
prĂȘt-a-porter clothing and accessories designed for the young adult market,
Diesel is not only a clothing retail company, but a force to behold in the
world of beauty and fashion.
Diesel was built in 1978 by Renzo Rosso, fusing together the creativity of Italy,
marketing strategies of the United States and cutting-edge systems of Germany.
All in all, they make a vanguard company that manufactures premium quality
merchandises ranging from hip clothing to one-of-a-kind accessories, stylish
eyewear to mesmerizing fragrances, and unique jewelries to elegant home
decorations. Their brands include, Diesel, the main line, Diesel Black Gold, a
casual-luxury segment, Diesel Kid, footwear, intimate wear and bags. The
company also has licensed collections of eyewear, watches and jewelries, as
well as a mini- Adidas Collection.
For more than 20 years, all of Diesel’s
collections, including its licensed products, were designed and manufactured
under the direction of Wilbert Das, who started out as a designer in the male,
accessories, leather and kid’s line. He quickly became the Director of the
entire company, overseeing the communication campaigns, advertising,
merchandising, planning of events and fashions shows, retail and interior
designing of the shops, and development of brand extensions like furniture,
house wares and even cars. Needless to say, his works were exceptionally
impressive given that the company is now a forerunner in the business world.
Today, the company has already about 6,000
employees in 18 subsidiaries located all over United States, Europe and Asia.
Diesel’s products are distributed in more than 5000 retail outlets all around
the world and its annual turnover sums up to about 1.23 billion euros. The
company’s revenue is mostly derived from denim sales, but its accessories and
kid’s wear is also tremendously successful.
At the rate that they’re going right now,
Diesel is no doubt an outstanding company that’s out to industries, no matter
what kind.
