At some point in a person’s life, he or she
will be confronted with one important choice: to buy clothes, or to buy more
important things, say, basic necessities? Since day-to-day needs are
non-negotiable in today’s grim economic condition, maximizing one’s leftover
dollars may be a very tough feat, which is why every trendy person on a tight budget
must know where to shop.
Fortunately, there are hundreds of discount
stores around, but there are only a few that are really worth shopping at and Hennes & Mauritz is one of those.
Hennes & Mauritz, more popularly known as H & M, is a worldwide retail clothing
corporation, known for its “fast fashion” clothing line designed for people on
the go. It prides itself with more than 2, 600 stores in over 40 countries all
around the world. It is the second-largest worldwide clothing retailer, just
right behind Inditex and leads over US-based, Gap.
Headquartered in Sweden, H & M’s design
team controls all business processes starting from production down to
marketing. They ensure that fashion, quality and affordability are integrated
in each of their products – a concept that H & M has been centering itself
ever since its inception. This has been their guiding principle in their
creative process, starting from the initial design throughout manufacturing and
even down to the store’s dressing rooms.
The company’s design team takes their job very
seriously. They travel all around the world to learn more about arts, music,
film, and even food. They go to countless trade fairs, meet trendsetters and
forecasters, cover a wide range of fashion media and visit their H & M
stores to speak to the customers – all in the name of finding inspiration for
the upcoming seasons’ collections. They then incorporate these learnings to
major trends featured in catwalks, the streets, traditional outfits and individual
fashion icons, creating a collection that boasts of a balance between fashion,
quality and reasonable price – a perfect combination for people with champagne
taste but are on a beer budget.
