BenQ: Owning a Chunk of the Electronics Market

The market for electronics has been largely dominated by a handful of companies all over the world, one of which is BenQ Corporation, a Taiwanese-based company that sells electronic products, computing and communications products under the brand name BenQ. The name is a derivation of the phrase, "Bringing Enjoyment and Quality to Life". The company's main consumer goods include LCD monitors, televisions, projectors, digital cameras and mobile devices. As of 2011, BenQ's revenues have been pegged at 2.24 billion US dollars.

BenQ started out as a spin-off of electronics giant Acer in 2001, as a way for Acer to create a separate brand. Acer completely sold off its shares of BenQ in 2006. The company’s headquarters is located in Taipei, Taiwan, under the directorship of Li Kunyao, Chairman, Wang Wencan, Vice Chairman and Li Wende, CEO and President. BenQ currently employs more than 1,600 people in Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America and Africa, and markets their goods to some 100 different countries.
