Brabantia, known for its high quality products, makes and sells items in waste and paper bins, laundry drying and ironing, food storage and preservation, cooking and dining, bathroom and toilet, postboxes and accessories.

Vogue: A Fashion and Lifestyle Magazine Made Iconic

Vogue's global popularity has seen massive success, so much that it has become an icon and a synonym for fashion. Pop singer Madonna even had a song about it and titled, "Vogue". This lifestyle and fashion magazine, published by Conde Nast, comes out monthly in 21 national and regional issues in the USA and is distributed in 16 international editions: France, Italy, UK, Australia, Russia, China, Germany, India, Taiwan, Portugal, Turkey, Spain, Mexico, Japan and Brazil.

Vogue began as a weekly publication in 1892 by Arthur Turnure and sponsored by Kristoffer Wright. Conde Naste took over in 1909, and began making plans to up its sales. The first international Vogue was in the UK, then Spain, Italy and France. When Diana Vreeland took over as editor in chief of Vogue in the 1960s, the magazine saw a sudden surge in sales as subjects like contemporary fashion, independent labels and the sexual revolution were discussed. Vogue then began grooming famous models and in 1973, became a monthly publication.

Anna Wintour, perhaps one of the most influential and formidable figures in fashion, took over as EIC of Vogue in 1988. Known for her short bob and large, dark sunglasses, Wintour worked to turn the magazine into a publication of high status and excellent reputation in fashion circles and the entertainment industry. Wintour's innovative ideas and unconventional moves as the head of Vogue allowed the magazine to become more accessible to the masses who now has a guide to the ins and outs of what was then a rather exclusive industry.

Vogue has always featured women on its covers, with only four men having been featured alongside other female celebrities: Richard Gere, George Clooney, LeBron James and Ryan Lochte. To date, Vogue is now referred to as "the world's most influential fashion magazine", as critic Caroline Weber wrote, setting the bar for women everywhere.

Alfred Dunhill: Making Fashionable Bespoke Wear

London is known for one thing in the fashion industry: bespoke, something that luxury goods brand Alfred Dunhill specializes in. Alfred Dunhill started the company from his father's saddlery business, turning it into a shop that made accessories for vehicles such as leather overcoats, car horns, goggles, timepieces and the like. Dunhill then proceeded to open a tobacco shop, later turned into a pipe shop in 1907. Still based in London, the company makes bespoke menswear, ready to wear clothing, perfumes, leather products and fashion accessories, and is owned by Richemont.

Alfred Dunhill has several retail stores known as Alfred Dunhill “Homes” in London, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tokyo, establishing the brand as a luxury name. These “Homes” provide tailoring services, barbers, wine cellars, bars and restaurants, spas and screening rooms. Alfred Dunhill is known for having provided the accessories for several James Bond movies, and the company was behind the campaign called the “Voice” to recognize British men who have contributed greatly to society. The company's most popular products to date have been their lighters.

D’NA: Exploring New Horizons in Cross-Cultural Fashion

A style pioneer in the Saudi Arabian fashion scene, Deena Abdulaziz balances a busy, family-oriented personal life with her responsibilities as the owner and lead curator of Riyadh’s lauded lifestyle boutique D’NA. Singling out her classically chic mother as a major source of fashion inspiration, Abdulaziz established D’NA shortly after returning from a luxury goods conference that took place in the metropolitan playground of Dubai in 2005. For many years prior, she had dreamt of launching a high fashion retail concept that would seamlessly integrate beauty, innovation, and creativity, from hand-tailored looks fabricated by top designers to pieces for the home that capture grace in both formal and functional capacities.

Traveling throughout the Middle East and overseas to attend runway shows and liaise with artists and artisans, Deena Abdulaziz found a mentor in Diane von Fürstenberg, the legend who introduced the world to the now iconic wrap dress. With the designer’s encouragement, Abdulaziz decided to make her long held dream a reality. In 2006, D’NA opened its doors to an exclusive clientele and has continued to thrive ever since. Modeled after stores like Milan’s 10 Corso Como, Paris’ Collette, and Maxfields in Los Angeles, the stunning showroom of luxury quickly garnered a great deal of attention from fashion industry heavyweights and women who shared Abdulaziz’s eclectic aesthetic sensibilities.

With international expansion plans for D’NA underway, Deena Abdulaziz continues to play an integral role in sourcing new lines, organizing trunk shows, and promoting the work of rising star designers who have yet to gain prominence outside of the Middle East. To this end, she recently unveiled a collection of Sofia Al Asfoor handbags and hosted a pop-up at the Katara Art Center in Doha, only two of the many exciting events that distinguish D’NA’s truly original conceptualization. Describing her life’s passion as a “21st century salon of ideas, Abdulaziz stands apart as one of the most fascinating women involved in high fashion today.

Icebreaker Merino: Specialized Activewear Made Popular

Icebreaker Merino, simply known as Icebreaker, is one of the world's leading names in sportswear specializing in merino. Jeremy Moon was introduced to a merino sheep farmer named Brian Brackenridge in New Zealand in 1994. Brackenridge gave Moon a prototype thermal shirt made of merino wool, the material of which fascinated Moon so much that he came up with a business plan to develop a merino layering system for outdoor clothing. Merino wool was then considered a low-value material, the inexpensive costs of which proved excellent for Moon. This jump-started Icebreaker, turning it into the successful venture it is now. Icebreaker supplies to over 3,000 stores in some 30 countries worldwide.

Sir Peter Blake, a native of New Zealand, tested the first merino clothing of Icebreaker by wearing a prototype pair of leggings and top for 40 days and nights while going on to set a world record for circumnavigation. Blake's endorsement of Moon's merino garments launched the brand. Icebreaker started selling in New Zealand, quickly followed by Australia. The company's products soon gained a popular following, reaching Europe then North America.

Icebreaker believes in environment-friendly, sustainable production. Their main material, merino is an all-natural fiber taken from merino sheep in New Zealand. The merino, one of the world's oldest breeds of sheep, lives in the mountains of the country, their wool built for extreme weather conditions. Merino is breathable in hot weather but insulating in the winter while being incredibly soft and light, making it an ideal material for outdoor clothing. Merino is said to perform better than synthetic materials, being more breathable, odor-resistant and ultra-absorbent. Icebreaker now makes outerwear, underwear, mid-layer clothing, socks and accessories for men, women and children. The company is based in Wellington, New Zealand, with offices in the USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.

Amstrad: Sky Digital Made Possible

Founded by Alan Sugar when he was only 21, Amstrad is an electronics company based in Brentwood, Essex, United Kingdom, known for making Sky Digital boxes. Established in 1968, Amstrad took its name from Alan Michael Sugar Trading. Now owned by BSkyB, Amstrad is headed by Alun Webber, Managing Director and Simon Ball, CEO. Sky Digital is BskyB's provider for digital satellite television and radio services.

Amstrad initially began business in electronics, making hi-fi, television, car stereo and cassette systems at affordable consumer prices. Soon, the company expanded to manufacture amplifiers, tuners and later on, personal computer units, word processors, printers and software. When the 20th century came, Amstrad then moved on to more portable electronic products such as computers and video games. The demand was weak, causing Amstrad to focus on telecommunications instead, where the company successfully launched Sky satellite. BskyB took over Amstrad in 2007, with Amstrad continuing to work on its products and services for Sky.
