Remy International is an American manufacturer, remanufacturer and distributor of alternators, hybrid power technology, light duty starters and Delco Remy brand heavy duty systems. The company has been around since 1896.
Frank and Perry Remy founded the business as a home wiring business in Anderson, Indiana. What started as a small venture has turned into a global operation with facilities in 11 countries. The business is now a trusted name in the transportation and automotive industry with strong market presence in Asia, Europe, Latin America and in North America. The entire operation is divided into three segments, namely, Original Equipment, Locomotive and Aftermarket. Their Original Equipment unit is further divided into Automotive, Electric Motors and Heavy-duty Vehicles.
It was on December 13, 2012 that the company started trading on the NASDAQ. It now trades using the ticker symbol REMY. The business was once named Delco Remy and changed its brand name to Remy International, Inc. in 2004.
