Headquartered in San Diego, California, Charlotte Russe is a chain of
specialty retail stores in United States dedicated to creating and selling
stylish clothing and accessories for women in their teens and early twenties.
Named after a French saccharine delight, Charlotte
Russe kicked off its sweet journey way back in 1975 when its first store opened
in Carlsbad, California. The store was owned and managed by Daniel Lawrence, a budding
designer-slash-entrepreneur, who wanted to design, manufacture and sell
clothing that are not only stylish, but also something that would set in motion
a new fashion revolution. Putting the limelight on ladies in their teens and
twenties, the store offered an assortment of major trends fused with details,
the likes of which the fashion world has never seen before.
Needless to say, Charlotte Russe’s rise to fame was
almost instantaneous. Over the next decades, its mall-based store in Carlsbad
grew into more than 500 stores scattered all over United States and a few other
countries all over the world.
