Music for All Ages at the Academy of Music on Main Street

As the saying goes, “When a door closes, a window opens.” This was the story of Melody Stevens, a public school teacher turned entrepreneur when she was not granted tenure at the New Jersey public school where she had worked. Stevens turned the situation into a positive experience by applying to work full-time at the Academy of Music on Main Street in New Jersey. The next day, Stevens was offered the place. She bought the school and turned it into what is now one of the most inspiring stories in business and music. Aside from the school, Stevens is the author of “Become a Time Millionaire” and has a successful seminar practice to her name.

The Academy of Music on Main Street is a private institution that offers music lessons for all ages. In practice for the past 20 years, the Academy of Music offers lessons for guitars, drums, piano, voice, trumpet, violin, flute, trombone, clarinet, cello, bass, sax and choir. Music teachers are college-trained and have extensive background and experience in music, plus lessons are customizable according to each student's individual needs. Aside from lessons, the Academy of Music on Main Street holds regular recitals and concerts as a way to showcase the students' acquired skills and to build self-confidence in performing, as well.

The Academy of Music on Main Street has several programs that make it unique. One of these is the Rock Band Program where students are encouraged to form their own bands and perform as such and the Little Mozart program which aims to promote music learning for toddlers below the age of four, so that they can start their music education as early as possible. The school holds true to its belief that music not only teaches children and adults how to play, but it also builds character and self-esteem, hones an appreciation for the arts, provides an outlet for self-expression, creativity and relaxation and strengthens social and familial bonds. The Academy is open to everyone and is one of the state's most popular venues for music education.
