Olympic Steel: A Steel Processor Business

It was in 1994 that Olympic Steel made its initial public offering. The company today trades its common stocks on the NASDAQ under the symbol ZEUS. It is considered as one of the leaders in the steel processing industry and operates 17 facilities across the eastern half of the United States.

As a steel processor company, it engages in selling, processing, storing and trading of flat-rolled steel not just within the country but also internationally. They are also in the distribution and production of coated and stainless flat-rolled sheet, coil and plate steel products and processed carbon. Part of the services they offer include the slitting, shearing and cutting to length these rolled sheets.

Based in Cleveland, Ohio, the company services both fabricators and various manufacturers who are in need of their flat-rolled steel products. Some of their customers are big OEMs and automobile and heavy equipment manufacturers. Its history goes back to the founding of the business in 1954 by brothers, Morris and Sol Siegal and Sam Sigel.
