OraSure Technologies: Simplifying Complicated Diagnostic Procedures

OraQuick is a testing kit that is considered as the first over-the-counter home HIV test kit. This scientific breakthrough is a product of OraSure Technologies, a  pharmaceutical company based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The company produces several diagnostic kits that they market to the whole world.

Since its inception, the company has been determined to leave a mark in the field of medicine and diagnostics. They have simplified several complicated processes of diagnosing various diseases through their kits. With their strong dedication in innovating and moving science forward, they have become a leader in the manufacturing, developing and marketing of various oral fluid diagnostic and collection devices. They also provide high end technologies that would help diagnose or detect dreaded medical conditions.

As they continue to develop methods of diagnoses, they have marketed their FDA approved products. Some of the products that are out in the marketed now that are used in the detection of antibodies to the HIV virus are the OraSure HIV-1 Oral Specimen Collection Device, OraQuick In-Home HIV Test, OraQuick ADVANCE Rapid HIV-1/2 Antibody Test and the OraQuick HCV Rapid Antibody Test. Not only is OraSure engaged in the development of testing kits for HIV, they also have products marketed that are intended to test drugs of abuse. Some of their products that fall under this category are the Q.E.D. Saliva Alcohol Test and the Intercept Oral Fluid Drug Testing System. They also have cryosurgical products that are mostly sold to professionals or physician office markets. Their Histofreezer is a product for the cryosurgical removal of common and plantar warts. This is also used for benign skin lesions.

The company has already attained global presence. Their products are no longer made available in the United States where it is based but also in countries in Asia, Australia, Europe, South America and in North America.
